Tennessee's Participation in the Initiative's Learning Communities (2006-2007):
Tennessee is currently participating in two Learning Communities: Infant/Toddler Credentials and Quality Rating Systems & Infant/Toddler Child Care.

Summary of Tennessee's Work as Part of the Initiative (2004-2005):
Tennessee worked on increasing training, technical assistance and support to infant/toddler caregivers in order to improve practice with a focus on health & safety. They explored funding sources to increase the availability and affordability of infant/toddler care, and are sought to increase knowledge and support in the community for quality infant/toddler child care.

Tennessee's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Earmark:

FY 2006: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark is $2,209,958.

The funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Tennessee infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used to support these activities):

• Eight (8) Infant Toddler Specialists.

FY 2004: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark was $2,243,994.

The funds were used in the following ways to enhance the Tennessee infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may have been used to support these activities):

• Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance Infant/Toddler Training Initiative,which delivers WestEd PITC training through certified trainers and supports model sites throughout the state.

• Six (6) Infant Toddler Specialists placed on a regional basis throughout the state.
